Stéphane Leroux & Tokyo Nomad Art
Had the immense honor of meeting the famous French artist sculptor Richard Orlinski in Tokyo to create a nomad exhibition together in Ueno Park with the figurative paintings of the French artist Stephane Leroux. Tokyo Nomad Art #005 with Richard Orlinski.
For many years, I roamed the city with my artworks, carrying them under my arm or attached to a cart. Despite the logistical challenges of navigating public transportation in a crowded city with large-scale works, I observed the interest and curiosity of the public in such strolls.
My motivation was to find a solution to exhibit works outside the traditional settings of studios and galleries. The general public often hesitates to step into a gallery or museum, feeling intimidated or inadequately knowledgeable. I myself experienced this reluctance. However, the aesthetic appreciation of beauty does not require an art degree. We are all capable, with our senses, of appreciating the arts, distinguishing the beautiful from the ugly, the graceful from the ungraceful, the harmonious from the non-harmonious. Imagine sculptures from ancient Rome in a rice field; the impact would be undeniable.
Hence, the idea was born: if you don't go to art, art will come to you. This philosophy, inspired and adapted from a quote by Lagardère, aims to sensitize the public to artistic creation freely and to spark curiosity. The ultimate goal is to make art more accessible and free.
In this perspective, I want to materialize the Tokyo Nomad Art project. The fundamental idea is to create and promote arts, allowing the public to find us at various locations in the city, transforming Tokyo into a nomadic exhibition.
Between Contemporary Art and Japanese Tradition in Tokyo.
In the bustling life of Tokyo, Stéphane LEROUX stands out by masterfully blending contemporary art, street art, and traditional Japanese culture. His fascinating universe unfolds in the heart of the Ueno district, where he invites us to meet his koi carps, emblems of his artistic work.
The documentary, directed by Matthieu VALLUET and Vincent MASSOT for TV5 Monde and produced by 909 Productions,
immerses us in this artistic adventure.
