The artist Stéphane LEROUX is a passionate creator, delving into the depths of light, shadow, and composition. His works reveal themselves as timeless explorations, meditations on the nature of light and space. His most remarkable works manifest through a series of twelve panels, each panel being a composition of fragments of organic light and shadow, carefully arranged to form a harmonious and rectilinear composition. This series, meticulously crafted on wooden panels with stretched paper, evokes an idea of infinity, of time flowing endlessly, of memory captured in every minute. Inspired by Tanizaki's work in Praise of Shadows, the artist explores the subtlety of light, creating compositions that draw the eye and mind into a spiral of contemplation. This spiral, a direct reference to Japanese tatami interiors, symbolizes perpetual movement, a dance between the artist, his work, and the environment. Each fragment of paint is unique, worked individually to capture the essence of the moment, the accident, the unknown. The use of gold and black creates a singular brightness, a reflection of low-intensity light that illuminates the work from within. The artist is not limited to the series of twelve panels. He also explores simplicity and balance through a series of black circle paintings, inspired by Japanese Zen gardens. Using raw wooden panels, he sculpts clean lines, evoking the rising sun of the Japanese flag or the stone gardens of Ryoan-Ji in Kyoto. These streamlined works, balanced between emptiness and fullness, capture the essence of tranquility and contemplation. The artist's influences are vast and deep, ranging from Balzac to George de La Tour, from Roman Opalka to Ogata Korin. Each influence blends into his own artistic language, enriching his creations with additional depth, cultural and spiritual resonance. In summary, Stéphane LEROUX's work is a constant exploration of light, shadow, time, and space, a meditation on the infinite and the ephemeral, captured in every paint fragment, in every precisely drawn black circle. It is a journey into the soul and mind, an invitation to contemplate the beauty and complexity of the world that surrounds us.
